I do not use it personally anymore and have lost the motivation to do anything with it. That said, I believe that PyLucene works differently now and no longer has the issue (thread conflicts with CherryPy) that TurboLucene was initially created to solve. Also TurboGears 2.0 no longer even uses CherryPy, making it further a moot point. My recommendation to you would be to just try using PyLucene directly. It's a pretty awesome project and reasonably easy to get started with. More to the point, it is supported and not abandoned! :) Alternatively, depending on your needs, you might want to check out Woosh. It's a pure-Python search library that looks interesting.
